Watch: Chief Inspector Espenido Answers Sen. Drilon's Suspicion of the Parojinog Raid (Video)

Marawi City Police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido explained his side on the controversial statement of Sen. Franklin Drilon who expressed concern over the killing of Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog during a raid on Sunday, July 30, 2017.

According to the former Chief of Police of Albuera, Leyte, his team conducted the raid at dawn because of the fact that most of the time there were people doing some vigil outside the house of their target and doing a surprise raid will also help his team for security reasons.

Watch the Explanation of Chief Inspector Espenido in an Interview with TV5:

Sen. Drilon questioned the time of serving of the search warrant to Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog because the time of the incident coincides with what happened to Mayor Espinosa before who was also killed during a dawn raid by members of the CIDG.

Mayor Parojinog and 11 others were killed during the police operations conducted by some elite members of the PNP and CIDG. The police operation was conducted at around 2:30 in the morning at his residence, the cops had been set to serve a search warrant but the men of Mayor Parojinog open fire first to the police who retaliated in return.

Meanwhile, PNP Chief Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa also commented on the controversial time of serving of the warrant of arrest to Mayor Parojinog as he defended his men in Marawi City.

Director Gen. Ronald Dela Rosa was quoted as saying "Every time is a legal time to serve search warrant, walang sinabi sa search warrant na gawin mo yan during office hours. Anytime of the day, any day of the week."

The PNP Chief also added further that "Kami naman sa pulis, para di mag-leak ang operations, we have to do it on time, we have to dictate the tempo, the schedule."
