De Lima says its tragic: While rest of the world rages over killings under Duterte, but most Pinoys just don’t give a damn

While the whole world seems to be concerned with the continuing killings in the country, officials in government including majority of Filipinos are in a state of denial.
Sen. Leila de Lima lamented how, even after the New York-based Human Rights Watch took note of what it claimed as a “murderous” war on drugs, most Filipinos do not seen to be alarmed or , worse, appear to be in almost catatonic state, refusing to repudiate the culture of death.
“Tragic,” she commented.
De Lima, who had been vocal in criticizing alleged extrajudicial killings (EJKs) taking place since President Duterte assumed power, said HRW best summed up the Chief Executive’s first year in office by describing it as human rights calamity.
“So true! How else would an impartial, discerning mind call this unprecedented reign of bloodbath in a land of mostly Catholic, God-fearing and compassionate people?” she asked .
The detained senator said she would remain steadfast in her position in continuing her protestations about the killings taking place in the country.
“I cannot and will never give up on our people,” she said in a statement Sunday.
